Silverado whips Chaparral in Class 4A season opener

Led by senior Teran Madu-Jules, Silverado's rushing attack appeared to be in midseason form Thursday in the first Class 4A high school football game of the season.
Madu-Jules rushed for 241 yards, including touchdowns of 15, 4 and 6 yards, as the host Skyhawks ran over Chaparral, 42-6.
Silverado gained 470 rushing yards to Chaparral's 31.
Cowboys quarterback Zachary Luciano connected on his first five passes for 65 yards to drive his team to the 4 with a chance to score first. But Skyhawks defensive back Dariouse Gravely forced a fumble that went out of the end zone for a touchback.
Silverado's defense forced four turnovers and blocked two punts. Senior defensive end Matt Hollen anchored the unit with eight tackles, two sacks and both blocked punts.
Luciano connected on 16 of 31 passes for 222 yards and a touchdown, but he was limited to three completions for 29 yards in the second half.
