Silverado's bid to become the first Nevada team to play in the Little League World Series came up two wins short when the team lost 3-2 to northern California representative Red Bluff in the semifinals of the West Regional in San Bernardino, Calif., on Friday.
Silverado (2-3) surrendered three first-inning runs and couldn't recover despite shutting down Red Bluff (3-2) over the next five innings.
A single by Omar Ortiz Jr., a Red Bluff error and ensuing wild pitch, and a double by Mikey Ruiz allowed Silverado to score twice in the fifth, but Red Bluff reliever Lane Pritchard came on to close down the Las Vegas team over the final 1 1/3 innings.
Ortiz and Ruiz finished with two of Silverado's nine hits, and Jacob Rogers added a double.
