Postcard from London: Need a tour? You’ve come to the right place
August 11, 2012 - 9:12 am
This guy gives tours for a living, which is why he has fake blood dripping down his face.
He was hoping I would pay some ridiculous amount of money to walk with him from a tube stop to all the places great British playwrights spent time at while alive. I walked myself for free.
It seems there are three very important jobs in London -- giving tours, driving a tour bus and pointing to where you can find the next tour. There are Harry Potter tours and Jack the Ripper tours and Great Fire of London tours and Thames River Pirate tours and Changing of the Guard tours and James Bond tours. There are walking tours and museum tours.
There is even one that recounts the six daughters of an aristocrat named David Mitford, women who during the rise of dictators became fascists, communists and liberals. The tour is called, "The Kardashians of the 1930s."
