Twin guards transferring to UNLV women’s basketball team

Twin guards Dakota and Dylan Gonzalez, who spent their freshman season on the Kansas women’s basketball team, are transferring to UNLV, the school announced Tuesday.

The Pocatello, Idaho, natives will sit out the 2014-15 season because of NCAA transfer rules, then have three years of eligibility.

The 6-foot Dakota Gonzalez averaged 4.4 points and 2.0 rebounds in 30 games (four starts) for the Jayhawks. Dylan Gonzalez, also 6 feet tall, played in only nine games because of injuries and scored a total of 10 points.

“We recruited them hard out of high school, and the news that they wanted to join our program now is a huge plus for UNLV women’s basketball,” Lady Rebels coach Kathy Olivier. “They are talented, athletic big guards that are going to help us in so many ways.”
