Ukrainian wins WSOP charity tournament
Igor Dubinskyy of Ukraine won the $1,111 buy-in Little One for One Drop tournament at the World Series of Poker on Sunday night at the Rio Convention Center.
Dubinskyy, a self-described professional gambler who cashed in last year’s Main Event, earned $637,539 and his first career bracelet.
Ted Driscoll, a 52-year-old filmmaker from Boston, finished in second place and took home $394,281.
The five-day Little One for One Drop was the final tournament of the summer completed before the Main Event. It drew 4,496 entrants for a prize pool of $4,046,400.
The event benefited the One Drop Foundation, which provides access to clean water in disadvantaged parts of the world, with $111 of each buy-in going to the charity.
“I am very glad to win. I am very excited to win. I am especially glad to win because this is a charity event,” the 48-year-old Dubinskyy told WSOP.com through a translator. “I do not have the right words to express my feelings about winning. I want to thank the organizers of this event and the charity for making it all possible, plus all of my friends who are here.”
The final table featured Eric Baldwin, a bracelet winner with more than $1.5 million in career WSOP earnings. Baldwin, a former baseball player at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, finished in fifth place for his fourth cash this summer.
