UNLV golf still second in home tournament

Seung-su Han carded a 6-under-par 66 Saturday to help UNLV's men's golf team remain in second place at the Southern Highlands Collegiate tournament at Southern Highlands.
The Rebels, ranked No. 22 nationally, shot a second consecutive par 288 round and are at 576 through two rounds, two strokes behind No. 1 Georgia.
No. 3 Charlotte is third at 2-over-par 578. First-round leader and No. 7 USC is fourth at 580. Seven of the top 10 teams are participating.
Han, a junior, shared second-round honors with Georgia's Hudson Swafford and is tied for seventh overall.
Swafford is first individually with an 8-under-par 136. Five players are tied for second, four shots behind Swafford.
Han is at 3-under 141, one stroke better than teammate Matt Kinsinger, who is tied for ninth after shooting a 74.
UNLV's Eddie Olson is tied for 13th at even-par 144. Olson carded a 73 Saturday.
Also for the Rebels, Brett Kanda shot 75, and Ji Moon had a 76.
The 54-hole tournament concludes today, with tee times beginning at 8 a.m.
• UNLV BASEBALL -- Corey Hales threw a two-hit complete game, leading the Rebels past San Francisco 6-1 at Wilson Stadium.
Hales (2-0) walked one and struck out six, facing just four batters over the minimum.
Scotty Berke was 1-for-4 with two RBIs for UNLV (6-6), and Xavier Scruggs was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
• UNLV SOFTBALL -- The Rebels split two games at their own UNLV Invitational, beating New Mexico State 2-1 and losing to Oregon 7-1 at Eller Media Stadium.
In the opener, Alyssia De La Torre homered in the first inning, and doubles by Brittany Meade and Jessica DeMatteo put UNLV up 2-1 in the second inning.
Against Oregon, UNLV (15-11-1) could muster only a Brittany Bolinger RBI groundout in the third inning.
• UNLV MEN'S TENNIS -- At Fresno, Calif., the Rebels lost to No. 45 Fresno State, 6-1.
UNLV (5-4) got its only win at No. 3 singles, with Wesley Burrows beating Tejesvi Veerepalli, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2.
• CSN BASEBALL -- The College of Southern Nevada swept Colorado Northwestern 2-0 and 10-2 at Morse Stadium.
In the opener, Taylor Cole was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored for the Coyotes (16-7, 5-3 Scenic West Athletic Conference).
In the second game, Cody Fierro was 3-for-4 with two RBIs, and seven other players had RBIs.
• CSN SOFTBALL -- The Coyotes dropped a doubleheader to North Idaho, losing 10-8 and 6-5 at the Russel Road Recreation Complex.
In the opener, CSN's six-run rally in the seventh inning fell just short. Evelyn Terrazas was 3-for-4 with two RBIs for the Coyotes (13-9, 8-4 Scenic West).
In the second game, Michelle Ralston was 2-for-3 with three runs scored.
