Balanced Lady Rebels coast to win over San Diego State

Dakota Gonzalez had 18 points to pace four double-figure scorers for UNLV in its 62-51 win over San Diego State in a Mountain West women’s basketball regular-season finale Friday at Cox Pavilion.

Brooke Johnson scored 16 points, Dylan Gonzalez 14 and Nikki Wheatley 10 for the Lady Rebels (16-13, 9-9), who clinched their first winning season since 2011-12.

Deidra Smith had 14 points and eight rebounds for the Aztecs (11-18, 6-12), who were held to 15 points in the middle quarters, trailed 35-25 at halftime and never led in the second half.

UNLV will face Air Force in the first round of the Mountain West tournament at 7 p.m. Monday at the Thomas & Mack Center.
