K-State blitzes Lady Rebels in third-place game

Brittany Chambers had 28 points and 15 rebounds as Kansas State overwhelmed the Lady Rebels on Friday night, routing UNLV 80-54 in the third-place game of the World Vision Classic at Cox Pavilion.
Kansas State shot 45.2 percent from the field, including 10 of 27 on 3-point attempts, while the Lady Rebels hit 25.8 percent of their shots.
Danielle Miller had 12 points and Alana Cesarz 11 points and 4 rebounds to lead the Lady Rebels (4-8). Kelli Thompson added seven points.
The Wildcats (8-3) never gave UNLV much of a chance to stay in a game that Kansas State led 33-16 at the half. Chambers started a 7-0 run for K-State to put the visitors ahead 12-6 at the 13:22 mark of the first half, and Kansas State had 20-2 run later in the half.
In the championship game later Friday, Skylar Diggins scored 24 points to help No. 5 Notre Dame to an 83-74 win over No. 22 Texas A&M.
Natalie Achonwa had 22 points and 14 rebounds for the Irish (9-1), who took control with a 13-0 run to go up 59-48 with 11:25 left.
Kelsey Bone had 28 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Aggies (8-4), who committed 26 turnovers.
Muffet McGraw earned her 600th win as Notre Dame coach in the first meeting between the teams since Texas A&M's victory in the 2011 NCAA title game.
