Lady Rebels fall to Utah for third straight loss

Poor shooting again plagued the UNLV women’s basketball team Saturday as Utah dealt the Lady Rebels a 62-49 loss in Salt Lake City.

UNLV (3-5) was within three points midway through the first half before missing 10 straight shots in an 8½-minute span. The Utes (3-4) led 26-20 at intermission, and the Lady Rebels missed their first five second-half shots and didn’t get within eight points the rest of the way.

Danielle Miller scored 17 points and Alana Cesarz 11 on a combined 7-for-29 shooting for UNLV, which lost its third straight. Nikki Wheatley came off the bench to post career highs of nine points and five steals for the Lady Rebels, who shot 30 percent (15 of 50).

Reserve Cheyenne Wilson led three double-figure scorers for Utah with a career-high 14 points.
