No. 23 Dayton swamps UNLV women in first half of 82-58 victory

The UNLV women's basketball team couldn't weather a huge first-half run by No. 23 Dayton, losing 82-58 Saturday in the first round of the ASU Classic in Tempe, Ariz.

Trailing 21-18 with 8:35 left in the first half, the Lady Rebels (2-5) scored just one more point before halftime as Dayton (8-0) reeled off a 21-1 run to take a 42-19 lead. The Flyers went 9-for-12 from the floor during the scoring spree and shot 50 percent in the first half, while UNLV shot 24.1 percent.

UNLV opened the second half with a 13-4 run to pull within 46-32, but Dayton countered with an 11-0 run.

Kelli Thompson led UNLV with 27 points, and Danielle Miller scored nine.
