Rebels again honored as MW selects Ike Nwamu as Player of the Week

Senior guard Ike Nwamu led UNLV to its second win over a ranked opponent in 10 days, and that was all it took for him to earn Mountain West Player of the Week honors.

The Rebels have had the conference's top player in back-to-back weeks, with sophomore guard Patrick McCaw being the previous winner.

Nwamu scored a season-high 19 points, connecting on 5 of 7 3-pointers, in UNLV's 80-69 victory over then-No. 16 Oregon on Friday at the MGM Grand Garden. He hit four 3s in the first half, and his deep 3 with 1:25 remaining closed out the Ducks.

UNLV (7-1) plays at Wichita State on Wednesday in the Mountain West-Missouri Valley Conference Challenge. The Rebels will find out today if they are ranked in either Top 25 poll for the first time since January 2013.
