Wheatley, Lady Rebels hold on to edge Air Force

Nikki Wheatley had 17 points and eight rebounds to help UNLV hold on for a 60-56 win over Air Force in a Mountain West women's basketball game Saturday in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Dakota Gonzalez had 11 points and Amie Callaway 10 rebounds for the Lady Rebels (9-7, 2-3), who never trailed after the first quarter in their sixth straight win over the Falcons (0-16, 0-5).
Cortney Porter had 18 points and seven assists for Air Force, which cut a 37-23 halftime deficit to 48-45 after three quarters.
Porter hit a 3-pointer to tie the score at 56 with 1:28 left. UNLV answered when Brooke Johnson scored a layup, assisted by Wheatley, with 52 seconds to go.
Wheatley then had a steal with three seconds left that led to two free throws by Johnson.
