MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — How fitting that the worst week of Bobby Hauck’s first UNLV season ended with the worst loss of his otherwise fabulous coaching career.
UNLV star wide receiver Phillip Payne didn’t make the trip with his teammates Thursday to West Virginia after he was suspended over a Twitter message, according to a source close to the program.
It’s all relative, especially when you are in the infant stages of rebuilding a college football program that has been as sound lately as that Disney stock in your deteriorating portfolio.
UNR made its share of mistakes, seemed to play disinterested at times and didn’t spend all Saturday night embarrassing UNLV like it did in the previous two meetings. But the bottom line remained much the same.
