Prep lineman from Arizona selects UNLV

Offensive lineman Nick White was sold on UNLV even before he visited over the weekend.

White and what he called his "football fanatic" father researched Rebels football coach Bobby Hauck and his staff, and liked what they saw. So White (6 feet 6 inches, 265 pounds) of Gilbert High School in Chandler, Ariz., committed to UNLV before stepping foot on campus.

"I liked the coaches a lot, and so did my parents," White said Sunday. "It isn't too far from home, and it isn't that close. I also feel like the Rebels will tear it up in the next couple of years, and I want to be part of that."

White also received scholarship offers from Air Force and New Mexico, and Rivals.com rates him as a two-star prospect.

He also made last April's 25-player All-Nike Combine Team in Long Beach, Calif., The combine attracted nearly 1,300 participants.
