Wild pitch in ninth sends 51s to 75th loss

Las Vegas reliever Merkin Valdez's wild pitch in the bottom of the ninth inning allowed Sacramento's Anthony Recker to score the winning run as the River Cats posted a 3-2 victory on Monday night in Pacific Coast League action in Sacramento.
The 51s (62-75) had tied the game in the eighth inning on a Jarrett Hoffpauir single, which scored Manny Mayorson.
Recker led off the ninth for the River Cats (75-62) with a triple. After Jermaine Mitchell walked, Valdez unleashed the wild pitch to end the game.
Zach Jackson started for the 51s and allowed two runs on four hits and five walks in five innings. Steve Register relieved Jackson and pitched three scoreless innings before giving way to Valdez (3-5).
The 51s were held to four hits, two by Mayorson and two by Hoffpauir.
River Cats starter Travis Banwart allowed one run on two hits over seven innings, striking out four and walking two.
