Yourkin pitches Fresno past sloppy 51s

Matt Yourkin pitched seven strong innings, and Ryan Rohlinger drove in three runs Saturday as the Fresno Grizzlies beat the 51s 8-1 in a Pacific Coast League game in Fresno, Calif.

Yourkin (5-2) held Las Vegas (34-43) to one run -- Mike McCoy's third-inning homer -- on six hits and no walks, with eight strikeouts.

Rohlinger hit a two-run homer to key the Grizzlies' five-run second inning and added a two-out RBI single in the sixth.

Though Fresno (48-29) went only 2-for-15 with runners in scoring position, it benefited from sloppy play by the 51s. Third baseman Edwin Encarnacion committed two errors that led to three unearned runs, two Las Vegas pitchers combined for four hit batsmen, and the Grizzlies scored a run on a wild pitch.

Luis Perez (1-1) took the loss after giving up seven runs (five earned) on nine hits, two walks and three hit batsmen in 5 2/3 innings. He struck out four.

Encarnacion and Brett Wallace each had two of the 51s' seven hits.
