13.8% unemployment … another ‘good day’ for Reid

I no doubt won't be the last to wonder whether Sen. Harry Reid will take to the Senate floor today to brag about what a big day it is that while Las Vegas' unemployment rate surged to 13.8 percent, the statewide rate held steady at only 13 percent. And you can bet that Reid apologists everywhere will bristle sunrise to sunset to tell us that we all knew what he meant when he said last week that only 36,000 people lost their jobs "today" therefore making it a good thing.

They might even try to say that if it were not for the tireless efforts of Reid, Pelosi and Obama, our unemployment rate would be much, much worse.

I grow weary of politicians who broker their do-nothing careers off of other people's misery.

For Nevadans there are only two points to remember:

1. Reid made his own bed with his dumb sounding speech and, as he has done too many times in the past, he creates his own campaign fodder for which voters now righteously ask: Where's the clout, Harry?

2. Sen. Reid picked a "good day" to file for re-election.
