A different opinion on candidate Horsford

Differences of opinion make a horse race, as they say. So, allow me to offer a different opinion to most media pundits in Las Vegas: Steven Horsford will make a horrible representative if elected to Congress.
He'll be out of step with what will surely be a GOP-controlled House and possibly the Senate and the White House. As a state legislator he proved to be strictly partisan, providing zero leadership beyond that ever was demanded of him by his masters -- organized labor, Harry Reid and big gaming. There no indication he'd be any different as a congressional office holder other than he'd also be in lockstep with President Obama, should he get re-elected.
If there's one thing we know in Las Vegas it is that the current approach to the economy isn't working. Why would Las Vegans want to send a guy to Washington with nothing new to offer and who will facilitate that failed approach? He's on the dole of the public or his political facilitators. He has no private business experience from which to draw on to understand the woes of this economy.
Now, to give Horsford his due, he seems sincere and is a native Las Vegan. He also said he prayed to God before entering the race. One big point in his favor there. But his judgment is highly suspect. His past actions very much call into question his wisdom.
For example, don't forget about this episode of fundraising arm twisting, which eventually forced Horsford to return contributions. The take-a-way from this event is that if Horsford goes to Congress he won't be representing the average person, he'll be representing big contributors exclusively. He appears more than willing to trade votes for money. A very bad sign.
And, as fresh as today, it is reported the Horsford won't recuse himself if there is a special session on redistricting, even though he is a declared candidate. If he can't see that conflict, one wonders what others he won't see inside the Beltway. More indication this guy is the wrong kind of guy to send to Washington with all of its temptations.
The red flags are waving high with Steven Horsford. What's sad is that if the powers that be get their way, a district will be carved out tailor-made for Horsford's advantage, thereby wasting a valuable congressional seat that could go to a candidate who better represents Las Vegas.
But, of course, that's only my opinion at this point. Maybe during the course of the campaign Mr. Horsford will do and say things that change my mind. I'd look forward to that.
