BARLEY'S BREWFEST SET FOR SATURDAY

Barley's Brewing Co., 4500 E. Sunset Road, plans to host its eighth annual Brewfest from 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday. This year's event will feature the nonprofit Beer for Boobs, an alliance with the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. Guests of the Brewfest can show their support for the charity group by purchasing logoed merchandise at the event.

Patrons can sample specialty brews from more than 25 breweries. Barley's will pour four beers, including Boulder Gold Hefeweizen, Double Red Rock and Blue Diamond, and brewmaster Jim Wilson plans to introduce a new special India Pale Ale for the event.

The Brewfest will be in the patio and courtyard, with cocktails available for purchase from a full bar and a $5 sandwich menu featuring barbecue pulled pork, smoked beef brisket, smoked chicken breast and half-pound burgers and bratwurst sausage. Live music is planned, with a disc jockey from 3 to 5 p.m., The Fab performing Beatles hits from 5 to 7 p.m. and Ashley Red performing club rock from 7 to 9 p.m.

Wine Walks to raise funds for New Vista Community

The Village Lake Las Vegas plans to host a Wine Walk from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday to raise funds for New Vista Community, a nonprofit group that provides equal opportunities and support for the intellectually challenged people of all ages. The Wine Walk will feature a variety of wines at 20 different tasting stations and live entertainment.

Another Wine Walk is scheduled from 7 to 10 p.m. May 21 at Town Square Las Vegas, 6605 Las Vegas Blvd. South.

Eldorado plans Mother's Day specials

Mariana's Cantina at the Eldorado Casino, 140 S. Water St., plans to serve a Mother's Day special for $16.99 from 4 to 10 p.m. Sunday. It will feature orange roughy, roasted poatoes, vegetables and a choice of a glass of white zinfandel or chardonnay.

The Café plans to serve a special from 11 a.m. to close for $11.99 or $12.99 with a glass of house champagne. It will feature an 8-ounce prime rib with shrimp scampi, garlic mashed potatoes, vegetables and choice of soup or salad.

Jokers Wild offers Mother's Day meals

The Court Café at the Jokers Wild Casino, 920 N. Boulder Highway, plans to serve a Mother's Day special for $11.99 or $12.99 with a glass of house champagne from 11 a.m. to close Sunday with an 8-ounce prime rib with shrimp scampi, garlic mashed potatoes, vegetables and choice of soup or salad.

A Mother's Day champagne brunch is planned from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for $8.99 or $7.99 for Prime Rewards cardholders. It will feature a carving station, specialty egg station, biscuits and gravy, entrees of country fried steak, beef tenderloin medallions, chicken and pasta, fried shrimp and more, along with champagne and mimosas.

Panera Bread donates funds to Children's Miracle Network

Panera Bread recently donated $18,704.70 to the Children's Miracle Network through Panera Bread's Operation Dough-Nation. The funds will be used to further the network's mission of caring for children and families stricken by illness. The check was presented to the network at St. Rose Dominican Hospital in Henderson.

Operation Dough-Nation donates a portion of customer donations made in the Community Breadbox containers near the registers, which it matches with cash for distribution to local charities.

At the end of the day, local cafes also donate unsold bread and baked goods to local hunger relief agencies through the company s Day-End Dough-Nation program.

Sam's Town to serve dining specials

Billy Bob's Steak House and Saloon plans to serve a Mother's Day special menu for $25 from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday.

Entree choices are petite filet mignon, steak and sautéed shrimp and scallops, grilled Pacific salmon filet or lemon herb chicken breast. Dessert choices are blueberry cheesecake, chocolate mousse tart or mango raspberry sorbet. The meal includes house soup or salad, baked potato or rice and Billy's bread basket.

The Firelight Buffet plans to serve special menu items from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. for $18.99 or $13.99 for B Connected cardholders. A carving station will feature prime rib, turkey and glazed ham.

Willy and Jose's Cantina plans to serve specials from 4 to 9 p.m. Grilled shrimp tacos will be $16 and chicken and pork burrito will be $15.

Enjoy Mother's Day brunch with a view

One Six Sky Lounge inside the Eastside Cannery, 5255 Boulder Highway, plans to serve a champagne brunch for Mother s Day Sunday. Offering a panoramic view from the 16th floor, the lounge has six seatings available between 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.

The menu is set to feature omelets prepared to order, eggs Benedict, rosemary-crusted prime rib, seafood, salads and more. Desserts will feature a selection of cookies, tarts, creme brulee, tiramisu, warm bread pudding with rum sauce and three-layer cakes.

Champagne and Bloody Marys will be included, along with non-alcoholic beverages. All mothers will receive a gift box of chocolates.

Smashburger offers deal for UNLV students

Smashburger at 4725 S. Maryland Parkway is offering a Rebel Special for UNLV students who show their RebelCard.

The deal features a classic Smashburger, Smashfries or regular fries and a 16-ounce fountain drink for $8, plus tax.

Les Kincaid, UNLV announce wine and cooking classes

Wine radio show host Les Kincaid and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas plan to present a series of wine and cooking classes from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on select dates in May.

Border Grill announces weekend brunch, Cinco de Mayo margaritas

Border Grill at Mandalay Bay, 3950 Las Vegas Blvd. South, is offering a weekend brunch from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through October.

Vegan cooking event set at Wynn Las Vegas

Wynn Las Vegas, 3131 Las Vegas Blvd. South, plans to host a vegan cooking and tasting event as part of Vegas Uncork d by Bon Appétit magazine at noon Saturday in the Beethoven Suite at Encore.

It will be co-hosted by Tal Ronnen, a vegan culinary pioneer and New York Times best-selling author, and chefs from Wynn Las Vegas and Encore. Guests can sample a selection of vegan creations, with each participating chef demonstrating how to prepare their vegan dish. Step-by-step preparations will be projected onto a large screen so guests can follow along using ingredients provided at their stations.

Les Kincaid plans to broadcast his new radio show Les Kincaid s Lifestyles Las Vegas from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Each week guests will include celebrity chefs, cookbook authors, restaurateurs, food professionals, vintners, winemakers, wine professionals and Las Vegas entertainers. There will be three guests featured each week, with the live broadcast coming from P.J. Clarke s in The Forum Shops at Caesars.

Buca di Beppo plans to open at 11 a.m. Sunday for Mother s Day. The Mother s Day menu will include the new Fritto Misto, which blends shrimp, calamari and pepperoncini coated in zesty breading and served in a colossal martini glass. The new red or white sangria will be available in 1-liter carafes.

Buca di Beppo is offering a Spring Features Menu for a limited time. Appetizers include cheesy bread Florentine and chopped antipasto salad. Entree selections include Parmesan-crusted tilapia served on a bed of sautéed spinach with fresh tomato bruschetta.

Today will feature $3 Avion Blanco shots for the entire day. Wednesday will have half-price Sauza Hornitos Blanco shots, $5 Casa Noble and Loco Hour specials all night long, and a live disc jockey scheduled to start spinning tunes at 6 p.m. Thursday will have Loco Hour specials, a live disc jockey and live music courtesy of Grupo D7 and giveaways. Carl s Jr. partners with March of Dimes, Las Vegas 51s for fundraisers

Carl s Jr. locations across the Las Vegas Valley are collecting donations for the March of Dimes through May 23.

Any customer who donates $1 will receive a special cutout to sign and display, along with food coupons. Last year Carl s Jr. raised $40,000 for the organization, which supports research, awareness programs, local hospitals and families affected by the outcomes of premature births.

Carl s Jr. also is partnering with the Las Vegas 51s baseball team.
