Acura sales consultant draws on caregiving background

Acura of Las Vegas sales consultant Kellie Lynch has spent the majority of her life taking care of people. Between providing care for family members for many years along with working in the medical profession, the assertive native of Los Angeles even had a stint in the U.S. Marines.

The move into the car business came after a very interesting career including serving as an emergency medical technician in Los Angeles where 911 calls are frequent. From there, she entered the in-home care and neurology industries before taking care of more family members, not to mention working as a bartender and cocktail waitress.

The career in the Marines was shortened by an illness, but Lynch learned plenty during her time in Paris Island, S.C., from 1993 to 1995.

"I learned you get farther in life as a team than you do by yourself," she said. "There are people who are willing to give up everything for you and what you believe in. It showed me that you have to have conviction and honor to survive. And in addition, you need to laugh."

Like anything else, the car business also requires a level of dedication.

"The car business can be very enjoyable, but if you're going to work in it, you must love and respect what you sell," said Lynch. "This is a big responsibility because you are taking someone's hard-earned money -- their blood, sweat and tears -- and helping make their purchase possible.

"I could not sell something that I don't believe in no matter what the financial gain, but I believe in the Acura. This particular store is really good to work for and when you combine the product with the people, it creates the ideal environment."

The safety of Acuras was Lynch's greatest reason for entering the car business and choosing the Acura over other brands.

"The Acura is beautiful but, most importantly, it has elegant strength," said Lynch, who began working for Acura of Las Vegas last May. "I can sleep at night knowing that my customer is safe in the Acura he or she purchased from me. I studied the Acura and especially the safety features before I went to work for Acura of Las Vegas."

Lynch will never forget her first car deal.

"The gentleman walked in the dealership and was looking around," Lynch said. "I had not been in the business for a week. The customer was from Scotland and he was delightful. We talked for quite some time and he provided certain requirements. We were able to meet the requirements, and he bought the car that day."

Still other customers have included a husband and wife who bought two cars from Lynch. One vehicle was 2010 Acura TSX while the other was a 2011 Acura RDX.

Yet another thrill came when Lynch sold a 2011 RDX Tech to a local teenager who was celebrating her 16th birthday. The transaction took about a month to complete.

"I stay in touch with my people and call them often," Lynch said. "People seem comfortable working with me apparently because I'm not threatening and I do care about them. I tell my customers that when they buy from me, I will be in touch with them whether it be via greeting cards or a simple phone call."

Acura of Las Vegas is part of the Super Store Auto Group. The dealership, situated at 7000 W. Sahara Ave., is headed by General Manager Tim Donnelly.

"Kellie's background caring for people definitely helps her ability to take care of the client at Acura of Las Vegas," said Donnelly, who has been in the car business for 35 years. "She's not pushy. She honestly cares about the customer's well-being."
