Aliante catches ‘Movie Madness’

Aliante's Movie Madness series kicks off its fourth season this evening with a free big-screen presentation of the film, "Open Season" in the 20-acre Nature Discovery Park.

"Open Season" is a 2006 computer-animated film produced by Sony Pictures Animation. The plot centers on a role reversal, where forest animals that are traditionally hunted team up against hunters.

The movie will begin at dusk, no earlier than 7:30 p.m. Food and refreshments will be available for sale and pre-show entertainment will be provided by Zaney Lainie the clown. Those who attend are welcome to bring chairs, blankets and picnic baskets.

Nature Discovery Park is located at 2627 Nature Park Drive, near the southeast corner of Interstate 215, the Las Vegas Beltway, and Aliante Parkway. To reach the park, take U.S. Highway 95 north to the Beltway Exit East. Head east on the I-215, exit at Aliante Parkway and proceed south.

On July 14, Movie Madness will continue at Aliante with a screening of "Over the Hedge," an animated movie produced by DreamWorks, which also created the popular "Shrek," "Shrek 2," "Shrek the Third" and "Shark Tale."

Community events presented in Aliante are a team effort, requiring the time, energy and talents of several organizations, most notably the city of North Las Vegas' Special Events and Parks & Recreation Departments; which co-sponsor outdoor concerts, movies and other programs in the community.
