As noted earlier, when presidents and generals clash, generals lose.
That's the way it's done in the United States. (Unlike, say, South America.)
No doubt this news cycle will be dominated by this dismissal. Fine.
But before we leave this clash, I hope Americans will re-focus attention on President Barack Obama's ill-advised Afghan "battle plan" to get out of the country on a date certain. It's impossible to fight this kind of war successfully when our friends and enemies all know that we will soon exit.
That bad idea is all Obama. He should come off it and tell everyone that he's "in it to win it", no matter how long it takes.
