AROUND TOWN: Take in Greek culture, food at annual festival

Now that you’ve had some time to rest up from pigging out at San Gennaro, you’ve got some room once more for the other food fest staple in Spring Valley: the Las Vegas Greek Food Festival.

It’s time to enjoy pasticcio, bougatsa, diples, dolmades and gyros, in addition to taking in Greek dance, the Greek Company Orchestra and other live entertainment.

For more information on the festival, including how the organizers prepared some of the scrumptious dishes, check out this View article.

Reporter F. Andrew Taylor captured video of festival-goers learning a traditional Greek dance at the 2006 event. View it here.

The Greek Food Fest runs from 5 to 10 p.m. Sept. 18; 3 to 11 p.m. Sept. 19; noon to 11 p.m. Sept. 20; and noon to 10 p.m. Sept. 21 at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, 5300 S. El Camino Road. Tickets are $5 at the door, and children younger than 12 are free.
