Artist lives, works, promotes art in downtown Newport Lofts

Hundreds of art enthusiasts flock to Newport Lofts monthly to attend an art show and reception in a two-story penthouse offering views of downtown Las Vegas. Organizing this event is Brett W. Sperry of Brett Wesley Gallery, a resident of the high-rise community.

"I love the area where Newport Lofts is located and I love that it's in the neighborhood of the Arts District. I have a contemporary art studio that focuses on the creations of talented local artists and of artists from the West Coast. We feature some of these artists during our monthly exhibits inside a penthouse at Newport Lofts," Sperry said.

"The penthouse is the perfect place for a showing with the open, airy design. The views of the city and downtown are just priceless. It's a great place to exhibit the work of talented artists."

The monthly artist reception attracts hundreds of art enthusiasts, local artists and Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman, a supporter of the Downtown Arts District and the redevelopment of downtown Las Vegas.

Like many residents, Sperry was first drawn to the 24-story Newport Lofts because of its downtown location between the Fremont Street Experience and the Las Vegas Strip.

"I moved my residence to Newport Lofts because I like the loft-style home design and I like the location near the downtown Arts District. I think that this is one of the best places to live. It is in the center of activity and close to where my gallery is," Sperry said.

Residents of the high-rise community are in walking distance of art galleries, one-of-a-kind stores, dining, entertainment and the monthly First Friday open air cultural festival.

Sperry purchased a two-bedroom, single-level loft-style residence overlooking the Las Vegas Strip and the Arts District. His home is one of 168 customizable homes available that measure from 912 to 3,000 square feet. Prices start at $179,900. Design options and immediate move-ins are available.

"I moved into my home just a few months ago. I like the design. I love the openness. I like having a great view of the Strip and part of the Arts District. I like the feel of my home and loft living," he said.

Like many Newport Lofts residents, Sperry said he enjoys access to resort-style amenities at the highrise's private rooftop SkyDeck and SkyLounge. Its SkyDeck offers 360-degree views of the Las Vegas Valley along with a swimming pool and spa, and a running track that spans the perimeter of the deck. The SkyLounge features a gathering place with a flat-panel big-screen television, billiards table, catering kitchen, serving bar and Wi-Fi access.

There is a 24-hour front desk.

Newport Lofts is located at 200 Hoover Ave., off Las Vegas Boulevard in downtown Las Vegas. The sales office is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
