Bateman unable to keep Clark County job secret

If Sam Bateman is trying to hide his job with Clark County, he’s not doing well.

For one thing, he listed the job on the front of a campaign mailer — an unwise move when trying to keep information secret.

A recent post on the Las Vegas Tribune website says of Bateman, “He is running for re-election to Henderson City Council, hoping that no one will notice he continues his employment with Clark County while he sits on Henderson City Council.”

One of Bateman’s mailers includes this quote from a Review-Journal editorial: “Mr. Bateman, a county prosecutor, has been a steady presence on the council. He opposed a property tax increase and has pushed for efficiencies.”

Bateman, a first-term councilman, is opposed by Derek Uehara and Tristan Galicia.

The website post, which lists no author, doesn’t say how it came to its conclusion about Bateman’s motivations.

But no one ever lets facts get in the way of a good political attack.
