Beloved guitar teacher Tom Kreuzburg dies, remembered for dedication to kids

The Guitar Guy, Tom Kreuzburg, featured in a 2008 story in the Henderson/Green Valley and Anthem Views, died March 30. Kreuzburg was known for teaching local kids how to play the guitar and for showcasing their talents during monthly events at a local coffeehouse.

“This guy truly lived for his kids and the music,” his neighbor Kelly Harrison wrote in an e-mail to View. “Honestly, there was no other like ‘The Guitar Guy’ and his love for music. He was commonly known for giving anyone a free guitar if they took lessons from him.”

His friends and neighbors are planning a candlelight memorial service at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Equestrian Apartment complex, 10701 S. Eastern Ave., Building 3. People who would like to attend should bring their own candles. Harrison said some of Kreuzburg’s students are planning to bring their guitars and perform songs that he taught them.
