Blues Barbecue music event draws visitors, residents to Aliante park
The Aliante master-planned community hosted a Blues Barbecue on June 2, drawing hundreds of residents and visitors to the 20-acre Nature Discovery Park. The free event featured performances by the Stoney Curtis Band, along with barbecue food items and refreshments presented by a variety of vendors.
Co-sponsors included North Valley Enterprises LLC, the developer of Aliante, and the city of North Las Vegas Parks & Recreation Department.
North Valley Enterprises, LLC, is an affiliate of American Nevada Co. and Pulte Homes. Encompassing more than 1,900 acres, Aliante consists of a Primary Village and an Active Adult Village, which will collectively have as many as 7,500 homes, with an anticipated population of about 20,000.
Home builders at Aliante include Astoria Homes, Del Webb, KB Home, Lennar, Pardee Homes and Pulte Homes. Homes prices range from the upper $100,000s to the upper $600,000s. In addition, Del Webb is building the age-qualified Sun City Aliante community.
Aliante is bordered roughly by Grand Teton Drive, Centennial Parkway, Decatur Boulevard and Clayton Street. Interstate 215, the Las Vegas Beltway, intersects the community, providing access to Interstate 15 and U.S. Highway 95, as well as to shopping, recreational and cultural destinations in the valley.
About 428 acres are designated for recreational and public purposes including the Aliante Golf Club, the 20-acre Nature Discovery Park, Deer Springs Park, Aviary Park, more than 24 miles of lighted concrete trails and linear parks and an arroyo.
Proposed plans include two elementary schools and a middle school, all of which would be built by the Clark County School District. The community's first school, the Theron H. and Naomi D. Goynes Elementary School, opened in August 2005. A new fire station was opened in April 2004 and the Aliante Library, located adjacent to the Nature Discovery Park, opened in May 2006.
Residents have access to shopping, dining and professional services at the community's various retail centers and the Aliante Corporate Center office park. Ground was broken during the first quarter of 2007 for the Aliante Station Hotel & C asino. The resort will be located on a 40-acre parcel at the northeast corner of I-215 and Aliante Parkway.
To reach the Aliante Information Gallery, take U.S. Highway 95 north to I-215 and exit east. Head east on the I-215, exit at Aliante Parkway and proceed south. The hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
