Child care facility to open in Summerlin
November 17, 2007 - 10:00 pm
Tutor Time Child Care/Learning Center will open a 17,000-square-foot facility in Summerlin Centre next year.
This project will bring the total number of child care facilities in Summerlin to eight.
The new facility is expected to serve 232 children ages 6 weeks to 12 years old.
Programs are based on Tutor Time's own LifeSmart curriculum, which is designed to meet the individual development and educational needs of each child. The program promotes self-directed investigations, problem solving, critical thinking skills and socialization for children of all ages.
Established in 1988, Tutor Time is a subsidiary of Learning Care Group Inc., the second-largest for-profit provider of early childhood care and educational services in the United States. The school currently operates more than 100 corporate and 100 franchise schools throughout the world.
Tutor Time Child Care/Learning Center will be the first child care facility in Summerlin Centre.
Projects under way in Summerlin Centre include a 2-million-square-foot regional retail center, nongaming boutique hotel and 400,000 square feet of additional office space.
"Once complete, these projects are expected to employ thousands of valley residents -- many of which will need child care services," said Tom Warden, vice president of community and government relations for The Howard Hughes Corp., developer of Summerlin. "Having child care facilities literally within walking distance from these projects is a valuable amenity and a great asset to working parents."
Other Summerlin child care facilities are: In the Beginning Child Development Center, affiliated with Faith Community Lutheran Church; The Shenker Academy, formally Temple Beth Am Growth and Learning Center; a child care center affiliated with Temple Beth Sholom; Creative Kids Learning Center; Children's World Learning Center; Lit'l Scholar; and Merryhill School.
