COACH’S CORNER: LON KRUGER Big second half at Wyoming a great way to start break
You feel great any time you can win on the road as we did Tuesday night in Laramie against Wyoming. Our guys responded with a great second half. We moved the ball very well and made the extra pass and as a result shot it much, much better. And our activity defensively was really good. To overcome an eight-point halftime deficit was a big turnaround and very needed.
Our 51-point second half was as good as we've played in a while offensively. Defensively, we were active. Desmar Jackson and JayDee Luster are tough players to guard off the dribble.
The comeback win and good second half is a great way for our team to go into our eight-day break. The extra time off also gives us a chance to get healthier. We have several guys nicked up as most teams do at this time of year. It also gives us extra time to work on some things as well.
We return to action on Wednesday night against Utah at the Thomas & Mack Center. That is the final game of the first half of Mountain West Conference play for us.
Utah, which hosts Colorado State on Saturday, right now is playing as well as anyone in the league. They've won their last three league games and their confidence is sky high. They are shooting with confidence and they have two talented big guys inside in 7-foot-3 David Foster, who leads the Mountain West Conference with 60 blocked shots, and 7-0 Jason Washburn. They're a tough matchup.
Look forward to seeing you out at the Thomas & Mack Center on Wednesday night and appreciate your continued support.
