Consignment process works well at Acura of Las Vegas
A proven method of selling a vehicle through a consignment process has been met with huge success at Acura of Las Vegas.
Introduced by dealership general manager Tim Donnelly two years ago, the consignment element adds another facet to the car business by enabling the owner to sell his or her vehicle through the dealership.
"The consignment agreement provides so many benefits," said Donnelly. "We provide all of the advertising of the vehicle, including Internet, along with countless publications. The reach through our marketing is very strong."
When the customer brings the vehicle to Acura of Las Vegas, 7000 W. Sahara Ave., for consignment, dealership personnel run a 150-point safety check, including a smog check and also secure a Car Fax Vehicle Report, which details the history of the vehicle.
One sales consultant who frequently uses the program is Louie Doblado.
"The consignment program gets the owner of the vehicle more money than he or she would get by trading in the car," explained Doblado. "In particular, the program works very well for a specialty vehicle, such as a Porsche, Jaguar or any car that requires a wider spectrum of buyers."
In the past two years, Doblado has sold consignment vehicles including a 2004 Porsche Carrera owned by a local doctor; a 2008 Mercedes SL500 convertible owned by a hotel executive and even a classic 1963 Chevrolet Chevelle previously owned by a Las Vegas Strip performer.
"The range of sellers is vast," Doblado said. "Many of the sellers want to upgrade to another vehicle, and the consignment process is the best way to get more money for a future purchase. In addition, high-line vehicles are the most difficult vehicles for a private party to sell."
Several of the customers purchased new Acuras after selling their vehicles through the consignment agreement.
"It's truly a win-win for everyone," Doblado added. "It saves the buyer the hassle of having to sell the car himself or herself; something that many people do not have the time or knowledge necessary to complete the sale. We weed out the buyers and can also arrange financing for them, too."
Acura of Las Vegas is part of the Super Store Auto Group, which has five dealerships in Southern Nevada and more than 26 nationally.
