Dining pick of the week: Rose Garden

Lynn Anderson never promised you a rose garden, but this Rose Garden promises you Chinese food that is tasty and plentiful. Among the chef's specials are fish filet in garlic sauce, Kung Pao Triple (shrimp, chicken, beef) in Szechwan sauce and Happy Family, where beef, chicken, pork and shrimp are married with vegetables and brown sauce. Other entrees include beef pepper steak, asparagus shrimp, moo shu chicken, tomato beef, Mongolian pork, salt and pepper shrimp, General Tso's chicken and Sizzling Plates with chicken, scallops or shrimp. There are teriyaki and curry bowls, chow mein with crispy noodles, lo mein with soft noodles, fried rice dishes starring pineapple, chicken, egg foo yong and soups such as hot and sour, sizzling rice and chicken noodle. Among the appetizers are pot stickers, paper-wrapped chicken, fried wonton and the pu pu platter, which has a little bit of everything. Popular combination plates, such as sweet and sour chicken and beef with broccoli, or cashew chicken and orange chicken, come with soup of the day, curry puff, egg roll and rice. Small entrees start at $4.50 and large entrees at $6.95. Rose Garden is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. -- Jack Bulavsky
