This comfortable, friendly tavern has San Diego-style Mexico food that is a perfect match for surfers or Chargers. Menu highlights include carne asada with cheese enchilada, chile Colorado, shrimp tacos, double decker enchiladas (three corn tortillas stacked with chicken and shredded beef), chimichangas, flautas, steak tacos a la Mexico City (open face) and burritos such as seafood with lobster, mahi mahi and shrimp. Several other entrees are shrimp rancheros, seafood enchiladas, grilled mahi mahi with corn relish and avocado, chicken asada, chipotle wraps and chile verde, where marinated pork is simmered in spicy tomatillo-cilantro sauce. There are combination dinners featuring beef tamales, chile relleno, crispy tacos and mini tostadas. Steak, chicken, veggie and shrimp fajitas are made with red onion, tomatoes, mushrooms, red and green bell peppers, yellow squash and Italian zucchini.
