Family dog found beaten to death with bragging note

A Florida family's missing Pomeranian was found beaten to death by a neighbor Saturday morning with a note bragging about the killing.

The family let their dog Fox out for a few minutes alone on Friday, WSVN reported. He went missing that afternoon. On Saturday morning, a neighbor found him on the back porch curled into a ball with a note attached. The note read, "We beat it 2 death lol hahaha."

"I looked at the photo, and I'm like, 'Oh good! He found Fox,'" said Verline Bartheleny, Fox's owner. "But then I saw the note, and it was just horrifying. I just started crying."

A veteranarian said the dog suffered a broken spine, broken jaw, cracked ribs and a ruptured stomach. Pembroke Pines police continue to investigate to see whether a crime was committed.

"Fox was like one of my kids," Bartheleny said. "I've had him for a long time. It hurts."
