Family relocates to Solamar in northwest

Alan Leclerc and Sarah Parker headed West to Las Vegas six years ago to start life anew with their blended family of sons.

Fast forward to last year when the family again hoped to start anew in a new home that was better suited to their needs. A search ultimately led them to Solamar by Pardee Homes in the Centennial Hills area of northwestern Las Vegas.

"We had a list of requirements for our new home that included a single-story design, large home site and four bedrooms and set out on a search of resale homes that spanned nearly a year and more than 30 homes," said Parker, an elementary school teacher. "Finally, our Realtor suggested we look at new homes, and specifically Pardee Homes' Solamar."

The couple found a floor plan at Solamar that fit their requirements -- the single-story Plan Two, which measures about 3,000 square feet with as many as four bedrooms, den and play room.

"We love that the floor plan has the master suite on one side and the bedrooms on the other, which gives all of us privacy, especially now that the boys (Quinn Coulombe, 14, and Alex Coulombe, 17) are growing up and pursuing their own interests," Leclerc said. "And, we have a guest room, which is great for visits from my son Scott, who is a college freshman."

The plan's playroom has been converted into a home theater where the family watches movies and the boys play video games, and they opted for a home office/den in lieu of the plan's formal dining room.

Natives of Maine, the couple were friends in middle school and reconnected during their 20-year high school reunion.

Leclerc said he finds the commute from Solamar to work at McCarran International Airport nearly as easy as his many stops during his daily "commute" as a pilot for Southwest Airlines.

"We moved into our new home late last year and so far it has been a great start for the year and for our family," Leclerc said.

The one- and two-story floor plans at Solamar range from 2,491 to 3,959 square feet with as many as six bedrooms with prices ranging from $270,450 to $329,950.

The newly added Plan Five at Solamar measures 3,959 square feet with six bedrooms, four baths, great room, dining room, loft, library and three-car garage.

Solamar features the builder's LivingSmart brand that offers standard and optional measures that boost energy efficiency, save water, improve indoor air quality and encourage material conservation and the use of recycled or sustainable resources in new homes, according to company officials.

Solamar is also part of Pardee Homes' New Standard program that offers granite kitchen countertops, beech cabinets and stainless steel kitchen appliances included in the price of the home.

Located in Centennial Hills, Vista Verde is close to Mt. Charleston and Lee Canyon, as well as to Silver Stone Golf Club, Mountain Ridge Park, Las Vegas' Extreme Sports Park and Centennial Hills Hospital, as well as new retail and schools at all levels.

To visit Solamar from U.S. Highway 95 North, exit to the Las Vegas Beltway west. Exit Durango Drive and turn right. Turn left on Deer Springs Way, right on Grand Canyon Drive, then right on Bay Ledge Avenue to the models.
