Findlay Automotive Group shows ‘Community Pride’

Special to Drive

Findlay Automotive Group, which has been heavily involved in Southern Nevada since it was founded by the late Pete Findlay more than 50 years ago, is now a member of KLAS TV-8's Community Pride program.

The in-depth promotion reaches out to provide assistance and education for various programs in Southern Nevada.

Among the programs offered through Community Pride initiatives are voter education highlighting the importance of voting through an online political resource guide and various 30-minute specials focusing on current issues in Southern Nevada.

In addition, Community Pride partners honor high school students for their community service hours through NGAGE (Next Generation Actively Gaining Experience) High School Heroes and 11 individuals are honored for saving lives each October.

A recent earned income tax credit even t in North Las Vegas provided information to those in attendance.

The 2011 event generated more than $200,000 in funds to participants and those with household incomes of less than $50,000 were offered free tax preparation.

Findlay Automotive Group Chief Financial Officer Tyler Corder said the family-owned business has strived to maintain a presence in Southern Nevada for decades.

"From the time Pete and Mary Jo Findlay journeyed here from Panaca in 1951, the family has always felt it was crucial to become a part of the community," Corder said. "This company reaches out to Southern Nevada at every given opportunity.

"To us, the Community Pride program with KLAS represents what the Findlay family has believed in for more than five decades. From helping the United Way to providing aid for the victims of wild fires, this is a cohesive group with a common cause, that of helping others no matter what the crisis or cause. It fits Findlay Automotive Group perfectly, and we're proud to be a part of it."

Linda Bonnici, KLAS vice president of Sales, said Community Pride is a valuable outlet to help others.

With 25 dealerships in Nevada, Utah, Idaho and Arizona, Findlay Automotive Group is headed by native Las Vegan Cliff Findlay, son of the company's founder.
