Firefighter assaults homeless man for taking too long ordering food

A Massachusetts firefighter has been arrested after he assaulted a homeless man who took too long to order his food at a restaurant, police said.

According to police, Joseph Ward, 37, repeatedly punched the man in the face, kicked him and threw food at him outside the restaurant.

The victim was taken to the hospital with a laceration to his eyebrow.

Ward is charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, FOX-5 NY reported.

According to town Administrator Mel Kleckner, officials are aware of the incident and Ward has been placed on administrative leave pending further investigation.
