Fisherman catches drone out of air — VIDEO

A fisherman on a San Diego pier caught a little more than a fish last week when he purposely snagged an airborne drone.

A video posted to YouTube on Friday by Tice Ledbetter shows the fisherman as he notices the drone flying overhead and directs his cast at it. On the first try, the fisherman snagged the drone and it appears to have a little trouble flying.

CBS Los Angeles reported Ledbetter was able to get his drone back, with fishing line tangled in the rotor.

It's not immediately known if Ledbetter was in compliance with the law, but San Diego's municipal code makes it illegal to cast a line overhead or "or allow any lure or hook to pass inboard of the pier railing while casting,” according to Gizmodo.

Check out the video, complete with dramatic Western music, below.
