Health care reform: Chamber poll puts Titus on the spot
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has released a poll that won’t surprise many Nevadans. It shows a majority of residents in the 3rd Congressional District are opposed to the current health care reform plan being pushed through Congress by the Democrats. The 3rd District seat is held by Democrat Dina Titus, who has expressed concern over the content of the bill. She also is being lobbied hard by Democratic leadership.
According to the poll, conducted by Ayres, McHenry & Associates, March 8-10, 57 percent of district voters oppose the bill.
An even-higher percentage, 63 percent, of important Independent voters oppose the overhaul, according to the chamber poll.
“There should be absolutely no question in anyone’s mind how Americans view this health care bill,” Bruce Josten, executive vice president of Government Affairs at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, said in a press statement. “This legislation is among the most unpopular proposals in recent memory and Members of Congress would be well advised to listen to their constituents concerns.”
