Heck vs Titus — Race heats up

The race for the 3rd congressional district heats up this morning, as this spin (below) from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee indicates. Both Republicans and Democrats see this race as winnable, especially as incumbent Dina Titus has become handcuffed to the Obama Administration agenda.

In this particular shot, the Dems try to make hay by saying former state Sen. Dr. Joe Heck has turned too conservative.

Do you think being too conservative hurts a Republican in Nevada this year?

And, conversely, does being too tied to the Obama health care "reform" agenda hurt a Democrat?

NV03 could be a perfect district from which to answer those questions.

From the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee:

What the Heck!? Joe Heck Pledges Support for Privatizing Social Security and Medicare

As Joe Heck makes his election year transition from a “…formerly moderate Republican” to “a hit man for some conservative mafia family” he’s taking some pretty extreme policy positions.

The latest? Joe Heck’s pledge of support for privatizing Social Security and Medicare in exchange for receiving $5,000 from the House Conservatives Fund.

“With Joe Heck’s pledge to support privatizing Social Security and Medicare, it’s clear Heck would fit in well among Washington Republicans,” said Andy Stone, Western Regional Press Secretary for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. “The last thing Nevadans can afford is for Joe Heck to turn back the clock to the failed Bush agenda that eliminates the safety net for seniors, subjects their benefits to the whim of the stock market and greedy Wall Street traders, and cuts benefits for those under 55.”
