“The Cat’s Meow”: The immersive staging play is scheduled for an extended run at 7 p.m. Sundays beginning Aug. 7 at the Velveteen Rabbit, 1218 S. Main St. Cocktail hour is scheduled at 6 p.m. The play is set in November 1924 when a mysterious Hollywood death occurred aboard media mogul William Randolph Hearst’s yacht. Included among the famous guests that weekend were Charlie Chaplin; Hearst’s mistress, starlet Marion Davies; the studio system creator, producer Thomas Ince; and feared gossip columnist, Louella Parsons. Red Rock Canyon children’s program: The Red Rock Canyon Interpretive Association is putting together a seasonlong children’s program series focused on the natural history of Red Rock Canyon called The Canyon Club.
