INSPIRADA PARKS TO OPEN OCT. 4
The city of Henderson and builders of Inspirada plan a grand opening celebration for Potenza and Capriola parks as part of Super Inspirada Day scheduled for 9 a.m. Oct. 4. Members of the Henderson City Council plan to join the community for the official opening at Capriola Park, 2155 Via Firenze, with activities to follow at Capriola Park and Potenza Park, 2355 Via Firenze.
The celebration is set to include a ribbon cutting, soccer and skating demonstrations, bounce houses, refreshments and pet adoptions sponsored by the city of Henderson Animal Care and Control Facility and the Nevada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. A complimentary bike valet is set to be available.
The 5-acre Potenza Park includes lighted basketball courts, picnic ramadas, playground and shade structures, a skate area, open turf areas and restrooms. The 12-acre Capriola Park features lighted multi-use fields, lighted tennis and basketball courts, picnic ramadas, a playground, a dog park, a splash pad, shade structures, open turf areas and restrooms. The parks were constructed by Martin Harris. Potenza and Capriola Parks are set to be open from 6 a.m. to midnight daily. For details, visit cityofhenderson.com.
WORKSHOPS ON AGING OFFERED
Workshops on aging are planned from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Oct. 3, 10, 17 and 24 and Nov. 7 at the Green Valley Library, 2797 N. Green Valley Parkway. The events are set to cover nutrition, exercise, pain and fatigue. Registration is required. For more information, visit tinyurl.com/omjdoaq.
LIBRARY TO HOST IPAD INTRODUCTION CLASS OCT. 10
The Green Valley Library, 2797 N. Green Valley Parkway, plans a basic iPad class from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Oct. 10. The class is set to teach participants how to send messages, read emails, sync to iTunes and more. Registration is required.

COSTUME SWAP SLATED AT RECREATION CENTER
The city of Henderson is set to host a costume swap shop from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Oct. 11 at the Whitney Ranch Recreation Center, 1575 Galleria Drive. Residents who drop off clean, gently used Halloween costumes at the center through Oct. 9 will receive a ticket to redeem for a costume on Oct. 11. All leftover costumes are set to be donated.
