Howard Stern’s People Do The Adult Film Awards

Gobs of the porn stars owe Howard Stern. They’ve either been on Stern’s radio show, or they’ve benefited simply because Howard helped mainstream the porn industry by putting actresses on the radio for his penetrating questions, or having them ride a toy called a Sybian.
“He was the person in the industry who first started having girls in on the air and talking about porn. And now everybody does it,” said Todd “Bubba The Love Sponge” Clem, who is a talker on one of Howard’s stations on Sirius satellite radio.
Howard didn’t show up at Saturday’s Adult Video News Awards at Mandalay Bay. He never does. But Howard’s producer, Gary “Baba Booey” Dell’Abate, interviewed porn stars on the AVN red carpet. He said he’s watched so many porn stars ride the Sybian, or chat on the show, he can’t remember them all.
“You’d think if somebody rode the Sybian, I’d remember them,” Dell’Abate said.
“It’s like this beautiful girl that’s walking over here,” he told me. “That’s Jessica Drake. I think she’s done the show. She’s stunningly beautiful. I just don’t remember. A lot Jessicas have done the show — there’s Jesse Jane, Jesse Drake, Jesse Jones …”
One of Howard’s recent guests was Teagan Presley. I didn’t recognize her by sight. But once she started telling me about her custody battle, I realized I just heard her on Howard. She said she was keeping her fingers crossed she’d win a certain sex award having to do with her butt.
“Hopefully, I’ll get recognized for it,” she said. “If not, I can always go get drunk. Soothe the pain away.”
She lost.
Brooke Haven and other women stars are transitioning from “boy-girl” porn to “girl-girl” porn, partly as an attempt to mainstream, since “girl-girl” is seen as softcore, compared to the hardcore of “boy-girl.”
Haven just wrapped a Fox Reality show called “My Bare Lady 2,” which she described for its “fights,” “drama,” “emotional” “crying.” Haven grew up poor, wanted more, became a “dancer” at 19, opened clubs in Paris, then moved to porn and now has her own production firm.
Her goal is to get into TV or radio, with her “bubbly personality.”
“When you try and get out of the adult business and into anything else, such as teaching or maybe medical — there might be somebody that gets you fired, because they find out about your past. And I think with broadcasting,” she said, “it’s just a safer road, as far as job security.”
