Is Reid Obama’s last true friend in Congress?

With vulnerable Senate Democrats trying to put some distance between themselves and the White House, it appears President Barack Obama has few Capitol Hill friends these days.
One notable exception: Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev. Politico reports Reid "has remained one of the few unapologetically loyal Democrats in Congress."
Some of that may stem from the Senate majority leader owing Obama for helping him through a tough re-election last fall, according to the piece by John Bresnahan and Manu Raju. Another part is Reid's value of loyalty, they said.
This week's fundraiser for Obama at the Bellagio in Las Vegas was Reid's doing, and the majority leader will crank up his machine to deliver Nevada for the president's re-election next year.
Republicans try to portray Reid's loyalty as blind. But Politico noted the Nevadan has parted from Obama, most recently when Democrats complained they were being left out of debt negotiations between the president and House Republicans this summer.
"After Reid complained to Obama about being left out of the loop by White House chief of staff Bill Daley, Rob Nabors, the director of legislative affairs who has friendly relations with Senate Democrats, has been more in contact with Reid’s office in recent weeks," Politico said, attributing the information to an aide.
