Land Rover sponsors ‘Muddy Buddy’ sporting event

Local retailer Land Rover Las Vegas will host a display of their certified preowned vehicles at the 2010 Muddy Buddy Ride and Run Series on Sunday at Lake Las Vegas.

The Columbia Muddy Buddy adventure series is sponsored by Land Rover Certified Pre-Owned and is held from March through November in 18 cities across the U.S.

Land Rover Las Vegas will have three two-person teams competing in the race. The teams will take turns mountain-biking and trail running through a six-mile obstacle course. The escapade concludes with a custom built 50-foot-long mud pit that the pairs must crawl through together, hence the name "Muddy Buddy."

Land Rover CPO donates $1,000 per event to the Challenged Athletes Foundation, an organization that reaches out to those with physical disabilities by helping them pursue a more active lifestyle through physical fitness and competitive sports. Funds are also raised through registration fees and donations. The goal for 2010 is to raise more than $50,000, the amount raised in 2009.

Today Land Rover Las Vegas will host a preparty for race participants, where they will have the opportunity to get to know each other and the race course. A bike technician will also be on-site to do prerace tune-ups in addition to prize drawings and photo opportunities.

Land Rover Las Vegas will have a pre-owned LR3 and Range Rover on display at the race, along with a 1964 Land Rover Series IIA Forward Control.
