Las Vegas Home and Outdoor Super Show joins Energy Star as a sponsor

The 13th Annual Las Vegas Home and Outdoor Super Show, Sept. 18-20 at Cashman Convention Center, has joined Nevada Energy Star Partners as a gold sponsor. The newly expanded and renamed show will feature energy efficient products, in addition to all the latest in home improvement and décor alongside outdoor recreation and recreational vehicle technology.

According to Jim Sibert, show sales manager, the volatile housing market is encouraging many homeowners to remodel their current homes. "This often includes the addition of more energy efficient appliances and products that not only improve a home's overall appearance, but also help to reduce utility bills," he said. "At the 13th Annual Las Vegas Fall Home & Outdoor Super Show, everyone will be able to find unbeatable show-only prices and tips for making home renovations easy, affordable and energy efficient."

At the show, which is organized by Affinity Events, members of Nevada Energy Star Partners will conduct seminars on how to make a home more efficient. According to Annette Bubak, president of Nevada Energy Star Partners, the 13th Annual Las Vegas Home and Outdoor Super Show is a great example of how the partnership broadened its reach this year by bringing together organizations and companies from a greater variety of industries and disciplines to forge a community-wide Green Alliance.

"The 13th Annual Las Vegas Home and Outdoor Super Show is helping us to get out the green message in a more creative and direct way. Our 2009 campaign, Together we save, is designed to promote Energy Star brand awareness and a green lifestyle by demonstrating how easy it is to save resources at home, work, school, and play," she said.

"This year, we will have exhibitors and home improvement specialists showcasing everything from custom furniture, energy efficient products and kitchen and bath appliances to synthetic turf, swim spas, sun protection, outdoor recreation products and recreational vehicles," Sibert said.

"The expansion of the show to include outdoor recreation and RVs is a good fit because most RV owners think of their RV as a second home."

The popularity of RV traveling has continued to increase through the current recession. A recent study conducted by PKF Consulting, an international travel consulting firm, found that a family of four could save from 27 to 61 percent on vacation costs by traveling in an RV, even after factoring in ownership and fuel costs. For families looking for ways to spend less money and more time together, RV vacationing is one option, according to Sibert.

The show features a variety of entertainment for the entire family, including Tillman, the Skateboarding English Bulldog. The YouTube sensation will show off his skateboarding skills and pose for pictures with the kids. All show attendees can register to win one of four Keystone RVs in the Live Your Dreams Sweepstakes, along with a variety of other prizes.

Show hours are Friday noon to 7 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $8 for adults, $4 for seniors and free for children 12 and under.

Energy Star, the national U.S. government symbol for energy efficiency, was created by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for energy-conserving computers. Since its origin, the program has been expanded to include more than 40 product categories that conserve energy and protect the environment from appliances, electronics, lighting, windows and office products to homes and mortgages.

Energy Star products use less energy, which reduces consumption of fossil fuels and resulting air pollution, according to Bubak.
