Letter to the Editor: Resident objects to HOA’s management
October 15, 2015 - 9:15 pm
I live in a small community on the outer edge of Mountain's Edge called Indigo. The management company is Community Management Group. The monthly fees are $73, which is high considering we do not have a pool, walking trails or a clubhouse, only two small parks. The landscape is a desert palette, so not much is needed to maintain it, and the gate to the community has no guard.
In the community, we have rodents (rats), snakes, scorpions, black widow spiders, landscaping issues and a huge pigeon problem. The management group does little to respond or doesn't pass complaints on to the board. It does not address these issues with homeowners at all. The issues are not resolved or dealt with in any way. They are health concerns and property value issues.
There is plenty of money in the reserve fund. Homeowners deserve and by law are supposed to have all issues addressed in a timely manner. It has been this way for four years. All of these issues have escalated beyond being maintained at this point.
We have all worked hard to purchase our homes. This is unacceptable. I am filing a formal complaint with the Ombudsman as well. I called the health department but was informed that because these are privately owned homes and not a landlord situation, there is nothing that office can do.
