Lousy economy equals lower taxes for Reno casinos

The lousy economy and general downward trend in Reno's gambling fortunes has prompted devaluation of casinos there to the point they're paying less in property taxes.

It is a nice cost savings for the casinos, but is expected to wreak havoc on Reno's redevelopment agency.

The Reno Gazette-Journal says it is "the first time that every major hotel-casino in Washoe County is being devalued."
