Mountain’s Edge educates homebuyers during fair
With the homebuyer federal tax credit expiring at the end of April, Mountain's Edge helped educate homebuyers about tax credits available to first-time and move-up buyers with its Homebuyer Tax Credit Fair.
The event provided those in attendance information about The Worker, Homeownership, and Business Assistance Act of 2009, which provides qualifying buyers with tax credits to help make homeownership more attainable.
The event was held at the 3,500-acre master-planned community's Home Search Café, located on Buffalo Drive and Blue Diamond Road and provided homebuyers with the opportunity to learn about tax credits options from tax experts, Beth V. Walker and Cheryl A. Constantino of The Wealth Consulting Group.
"We were thrilled to have the expertise of Beth Walker and Cheryl Constantino at the Homebuyer Tax Credit Fair to help interested homebuyers take advantage of these credits when it comes to purchasing a home," said Deonna Stocker, manager of the Home Search Café at Mountain's Edge.
"We had a great turnout from people all over the valley and there is still time to purchase a brand new home and take advantage of this unprecedented tax credit."
The Worker, Homeownership, and Business Assistance Act of 2009 was extended in November 2009, allowing a tax credit of up to $8,000 for qualified first-time home buyers purchasing a principal residence. It also authorized a tax credit of up to $6,500 for qualified repeat home buyers. The deadline to apply for these tax credits is April 30, and as long as a binding sales contract is signed by April 30, a home purchase completed by June 30 will qualify.
"Homebuyers who take advantage of these tax credits before the April deadline and purchase brand-new homes also will have the ability to select interiors to meet their needs as homeowners, rather than having to buy a home that will require out-of-pocket funds to customize, repair or both," Stocker said.
"Buying a brand new home that comes with builder warranties also gives homebuyers additional peace of mind while also benefiting from this tax credit before time runs out."
Builders within in the master plan include: Amstar Homes, Beazer Homes, Camden Homes, Harmony Homes, KB Home, Lennar, Meritage Homes, Pardee Homes, Pulte Homes, Richmond American Homes, Ryland Homes and Storybook Homes.
