Mountain’s Edge opens Liberty

Recently named the No. 1-selling master-planned community in the United States for 2007, Mountain's Edge in the southwestern Las Vegas Valley is adding new residences from KB Home, and has scheduled a slate of community activities for this spring.

The homes at Liberty at Sterling Ridge range from 1,267 to 1,486 square feet and start in the high $100,000s. The model homes are part of KB Home's Built-to-Order program, which allows buyers to customize their new homes from start to completion.

KB Home celebrated the opening of Liberty models with a sales event in late March. The well-attended festivities included a barbecue in which visitors enjoyed food, live music and prizes.

Mountain's Edge was certified by Robert Charles Lesser & Co., a leading independent real estate advisory firm, as the best-selling master-planned community in the nation last year. In 2006, Mountain's Edge ranked No. 2 in the Lesser & Co. survey of fast sellers.

Liberty at Sterling Ridge is composed entirely of two-story homes. The Declaration and Yorktown floor plans are modeled and feature two- and three-bedroom options, 11/2 to 21/2 baths and a one-car garage.

The Trenton and Concord floor plans offer two- to three-bedroom options and three- to four-bedroom options, respectively, as well as 11/2 to 21/2 baths and a one-car garage.

"These homes offer some of the great pricing options for new homes at Mountain's Edge and are perfect for first-time home buyers," said Deonna Stocker, manager of information center operations at Mountain's Edge's Home Search Café. "With the addition of the four new floor plans at Liberty at Sterling Ridge, we are proud that the range of options for new homes continues to grow."

With the additional model homes and floor plans at Liberty at Sterling Ridge, Mountain's Edge now exceeds 181 models available for prospective buyers to tour and features more than 240 floor plans.

"In addition to offering buyers a wide range of homes, Mountain's Edge is committed to making life in the community enjoyable and rewarding for its residents," Stocker said. "This spring, the community has planned several events for all ages, which are designed to illustrate the lifestyle that can be found when you are a resident of Mountain's Edge."

Upcoming events at Mountain's Edge include the community's first Classic Car Show to be held on April 20 at Exploration Park. The event will feature classic cars from different eras, a '50s band to create a nostalgic atmosphere, a contest for the best '50s outfit and best decorated bicycle, as well as games for the entire family, including volleyball and horseshoes.

The community also will host the second annual Country in the Park festival on May 3 at Exploration Park. The family friendly event will feature western-themed performances and live music by local country and western bands, mechanical bull riding, line dancing lessons and an array of booths with food and refreshments.

Mountain's Edge is committed to water conservation and features a Desert Demonstration Garden, which is located behind the Mountain's Edge's Home Search Café. The Garden was built as a resource center to teach residents about the various drought-tolerant plant materials one can use to create a landscape.

The commitment to water conservation extends throughout the community's landscape and into design guidelines put into place by builders selling homes in the master plan. Those guidelines include the elimination of turf from the front yards of all homes in favor of drought-tolerant landscaping.

The water-saving measures have been evaluated by the Southern Nevada Water Authority, which has determined that when compared to conventional master-planned communities of similar size, Mountain's Edge ultimately will save an average of more than 200 million gallons per year.

Exploration Park is the first of several parks planned for Mountain's Edge. The most visible feature of the 80-acre park is a Western Theme Park.

Focus Property Group, master planner of Mountain's Edge, created an Old West Village within the park. Dirt streets line the town square, capturing a sense of the Old West. Streets of the town square lead to a multitude of play areas, including an area featuring a covered wagon play structure, a web tee-pee climber and a replica water tower splash park.

For residents interested in hikes and scenic walks, Exploration Peak is Nevada's first Mountain Park, with several trails leading to the top of 2,846-foot Exploration Peak.

When fully developed, Mountain's Edge is planned for four elementary schools, one of which is already open and a second that is under construction, two middle schools and a high school.

Builders with actively selling subdivisions are Amstar Homes, Avante Homes, Beazer Homes, D.R. Horton, Engle Homes, KB Home, Kimball Hill Homes, Lennar, Meritage Homes, Pardee Homes, Phillips Homes, Pulte Homes, R/S Development, Ryland Homes, Toll Brothers, Warmington Homes Nevada and Woodside Homes.

The Home Search Café at Mountain's Edge is located at the community's entrance on Buffalo Drive and Blue Diamond Road.

The Café is open to the public daily from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and can be reached at 898-5777 or by visiting mountainsedge.com.
