MOVIES: Special Screenings — Friday’s ‘Motherland’ screening to benefit hospice

Filmmaker Jennifer Steinman will present a special screening of her documentary "Motherland" at 3 p.m. Friday (Jan. 22) at Rave's Town Square multiplex as a benefit for the Nathan Adelson Hospice.

The documentary, which has screened at five festivals (including last year's South by Southwest Film Festival in Austin, Texas) focuses on six American women who have little in common — except each is grieving the loss of a child — and journey to Africa to volunteer with impoverished children, enabling them to make sense of their tragedies and move on with their lives.

Steinman was a featured speaker at the Adelson hospice's sixth annual Multicultural Luncheon earlier this week. In conjunction with the annual event, Steinman is screening her documentary, with proceeds going to the nonprofit hospice.

Tickets are $20 and may be purchased online at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/95372.
